(3565) Superfluous water
The surplus water in an irrigation canal in excess of the requirements and includes (i) water that may occur with sudden reduction in demand (due to rain) after water has been admitted at the point of diversion into the distribution system, (ii) water let into the canal at the head regulator for escapages of extractors or ejectors or due to errors in regulation, and (iii) surface runoff or drainage water from higher lands collecting into the canal system above the points of escapes, wasteways and spillways.
